Family Support

Mrs Taplin (Pastoral Lead)

At Eslington Primary School, Pastoral care is a priority when caring for our children and their families.  We want everyone involved in our school to feel supported, and our aim is to build trusting and empathetic relationships with all of our pupils and their families. Regular contact provides a link between home and school to fully support the whole family.

Some of the ways that our Pastoral Lead can support pupils and families are:

  • Giving advice and practical support around managing behaviour
  • 1:1 mentoring with pupils
  • Attendance support for parents and carers
  • Social and Emotional support
  • Support with relationships and friendships
  • Support during difficult times for families
  • Advice around mental health and wellbeing
  • Referrals to our school psychotherapist
  • Referrals to outside agencies

In addition, we hold regular coffee mornings to provide an opportunity to meet, discuss any concerns and offer support. We offer training programmes such as, 1-2-3 Magic, to support home life.

Supporting the pastoral needs of our pupils sometimes involves working with external agencies, and in these situations we ensure that a confidential, sensitive and professional service is provided.

If there is anything you may think that your child is struggling with, either in school or as a result of something at home, please do not hesitate to contact the Mrs Taplin, Pastoral Lead on 0191 4335151 or 0191 4334131 to discuss further and to see how we can offer our support.
