Life Skills and Careers

“We all arrive here with a past; we enjoy and learn in the present to help us be better prepared for our exciting future.” Mrs Richards, Headteacher

Included in our 5-year Strategic Plan, one of our priorities is ensuring pupils transition from our school having experienced many life-skills expected of a Primary aged child, to better prepare them for life beyond Eslington Primary School.

Our curriculum offers an introduction to various careers and allows pupils to explore further by linking learning to real-life experiences. Our Careers Fayre provides further opportunity to enquire and learn more about careers of interest. During the Fayre, various speakers in different jobs and roles put on workshops to discuss what they do within their chosen career.

Life Skills Passports

  • During their time at Eslington, pupils work hard to earn badges/stickers for their Life Skills Passport
  • Children often come to Eslington without the basics, such as being able to dress themselves, use cutlery, or take care of their personal hygiene.
  • Children set their own targets for which badge they want to achieve, and staff support them on their journey.
  • Badges get progressively more ambitious to help prepare our pupils for post-school life.
