At Eslington Primary School we actively promote the use of technology to develop learning and children’s engagement in Maths and English. We use a variety of different online platforms and resources to support our children on their learning journeys.
Mathletics
Mathletics is a targeted and rewarding online learning resource, which is aligned to National curriculum standards for maths. Your child can access Mathletics at school and at home; they simply sign in with their school username and password using any compatible computer, tablet or mobile device.
The extra Mathletics practice at home can make all the difference to your child’s progress. Encourage them to achieve a weekly target of 1000 points to earn a certificate, building through bronze, silver and gold across the school year. Go for gold!

Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader is a computer programme which enables teachers to manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Children pick a book at the appropriate level and read it at their own pace. When finished, children take a short quiz on the computer to check they have understood what has been read. This is completed in school.
MyOn
Children in Key Stage 2 have their own MyOn account which is linked to the Accelerated Reader programme above. This is a very popular programme in which children can read a huge range of eBooks either at school or at home. Pupils can enjoy a wide range of genres and authors as well as informational texts. The platform personalises the reading experience by matching pupil’s reading level and interests to help find their next book. Close-reading tools, including an embedded dictionary, text highlighting and audio also help to develop pupil engagement with reading. As well as books, pupils also have access to age-appropriate news articles all year round.
Oxford Owl
Oxford Owl reading is an excellent resource for children aged 3-11. In school, we use this resource to support children who are learning to read through our Read, Write Inc. phonics programme, where they have access to phonics books and quizzes.
Oxford Owl for Home is a free website that has hundreds of eBooks and other educational materials, which can help improve your child’s English skills and spelling skills. It also provides guides and support for parents who want to help with their child’s phonics knowledge as there are great Read, Write Inc. videos and reading books.
Nessy
Nessy is an online support programme that supports children who have a diagnosis of/ suspected dyslexia or need significant support with their literacy. The programme focusses on reading skills, spelling patterns and sentence structure. If your child would benefit from using the Nessy programme, they will be given a login of their own to use in school and at home.
